We recently caught-up with Oakland A's Director of Player Development Keith Lieppman, who is currently over-seeing the A's Instructional League season. We spoke with Lieppman about A's prospects who are participating in the Instructional League and in winter league baseball, as well as the progress of some of the A's top prospects. Looking to add an exclamation mark to their dream 2007 season, the Sacramento River Cats cruised to a 7-1 victory over the Richmond Braves in the Bricktown Showdown. With the victory, Sacramento has earned the 2007 Triple-A championship title.

Despite losing their top hitter to a major league promotion, the now red-hot Sacramento River Cats continued their post-season roll, beating the New Orleans Zephyrs by a score of 5-3. Starter Shane Komine threw six strong innings and Nick Blasi had another big game on offense in the River Cats' Game One win.

Down two games to none in their best-of-five playoff series, the Sacramento River Cats came home and took three straight games from the Salt Lake Bees. With a big win on Sunday, the River Cats advanced to the PCL Championship series, their first appearance in the PCL finals since 2004. Daric Barton was the offensive hero on Sunday, while Shawn Kohn and Jerry Blevins starred on the mound.

With their backs against the wall, the Sacramento River Cats came out fighting on Friday night in front of a loud home crowd. Sacramento fought back from an early 3-1 deficit to beat the Salt Lake Bees and force a Game Four by a score of 7-4.

The Sacramento River Cats mounted a big and late comeback to send Game One of the Pacific Divisional Playoffs into extra innings. Sacramento even took the lead in the top of the 10th. However, Salt Lake charged back with a rally of their own and the Bees took Game One by a score of 9-8.
