But the Rays don't know what impact -- if any -- it will have on their hopes to sign left-hander Scott Kazmir to a long-term deal. Kazmir said it wouldn't really be applicable, that their situations are vastly different.

The Tampa Bay Rays remained busy with their offseason efforts this week, signing three players to minor league deals with invitations to spring training—left-handed reliever Brian Anderson, right-hander Scott Munter and Josh Paul, who was the team's backup catcher in 2007.

Niemann and Bulls fall

The Rochester Red Wings ended the Durham Bulls' season-high four-game winning streak with a 3-0 victory on Friday night. The Bulls, who wasted another strong outing from Jeff Niemann, couldn't increase their winning streak, due in large part to the dominance of Rochester starter Kevin Slowey.
