Logan Forsythe goes yard and Luis Martinez extends his on base streak to 27. Matt Clark clubs a pair while Anthony Bass is superb again. Jean Corpas picks up another win for the DSL Padres while Manuel Nuno paces the offense with four RBI.

Matt Buschmann is great over five but implodes in the sixth. Nobody is hotter than the Mat Latos – Mike Baxter combination – winners of Pitcher and Player of the Month for May, respectively. Simon Castro takes his fourth loss. Erick Ojeda has a solid start but the DSL Padres offense is dormant.

Jose Lobaton is past .200 for the first time all year. Mat Latos dominates over seven innings while Mike Baxter provides a dangerous stick. Jeremy Hefner has a bounce back outing while Logan Forsythe delivers clutch hits. Simon Castro and Eduardo Perez have tough outings.

Padres Prospect Report: May 15, 2009

Arturo Lopez is back in Portland and pitching much better at the Triple-A level. Craig Cooper continues to rack up the bases while Ernesto Frieri impresses again. Logan Forsythe leads the league in several categories and Luis Martinez continues his hitting ways. Jaff Decker's on-base percentage is off the charts again but Nick Schmidt blows a save opportunity and Zach Herr takes the loss.

Wade LeBlanc doesn't give up many hits but the walks hurt. Jeremy McBryde allowed just three hits but two left the park. Sawyer Carroll comes through with a clutch double and Matt Clark continues to thrive.

Canham doubles up; Wilkes in Elsinore

Wade LeBlanc didn't look sharp in his first outing of the season while Chad Huffman got on the board with a homer. Mitch Canham slugged a pair of doubles, Nathan Culp notched another win, and Brandon Gomes looked great as a closer. Injuries beset Lake Elsinore, as Chris Wilkes was called up fron extended. Keoni Ruth had a big day and coaching thoughts after losing four straight.

Portland Beavers 2009 Season Preview

Synopsis: There will be many familiar faces, especially on the mound, and one very big new one in Kyle Blanks. Look for rebound years from Matt Antonelli and Chad Huffman as the 2009 Portland team could be pretty good. However with the current state of the parent club many of these guys won't be here for long.
