The Arizona Diamondbacks have lost Randy Johnson, Juan Cruz, and Brandon Lyon to free agency, and they traded reliever Conor Robertson for lefty specialist Scott Schoeneweis. With their offseason pitching transactions in the red, the club may look to add another pitcher to the mix.

Felipe Lopez agreed to a one-year, $3.5 million contract with the Arizona Diamondbacks. The deal, which was finalized when Lopez passed a physical on Friday, provides the D-backs with a replacement for departed free agent Orlando Hudson.

While many fans lament the lost talent, these circumstances actually favor the Snakes, who will receive a bonanza of compensatory draft picks in June.

Chad Qualls worked a one-two-three ninth Monday to save the Arizona Diamnondbacks' 3-1 victory over the San Francisco Giants. It was Qualls' first save situation since being named the closer over Brandon Lyon.
