The Valparaiso Crusaders were certainly in for a surprise when they faced the UCF Knights for the second time in a little over a month. Valpo handled the Knights with relative ease on November 18th at their place in Indiana, but when the two teams squared off in Orlando Monday night, it was certainly a different story.

Free throw shooting dooms Dawgs

SEATTLE - In a fitting end to the 2007-08 basketball season, hobbled UW forward Jon Brockman missed two free throws with four seconds remaining as the Huskies fell to the Valparaiso Crusaders, 72-71 in the first round of the College Basketball Invitational at Bank of America Arena.

6-foot-1 Kwadzo Ahelegbe attracts Midwest interest

Kwadzo Ahelegbe, a 6-foot-1 junior point guard from Oakdale (MN) Tartan dropped nearly 20 pounds in the offseason to help his explosiveness and quickness. Early signs indicate that the move will help his play as he had solid performances in the Hopkins and St. Thomas Jamborees on Saturday. Ahleghbe has led the Titans to two consecutive Class AAAA State Tournament appearances and has already received a Division I scholarship offer.

Urule Igbavboa gets two more scholarship offers

Urule Igbavboa, a 6-8 power forward from Oakdale (MN) Tartan received offers from Wyoming Tuesday and Wisconsin Green Bay and has had ten schools visited him in the past two weeks. Several of those schools are expected to extend the junior a scholarship offer. Minnesota was the first team to offer him, but the Gophers are taking a wait-and-see approach.
