Brandon Webb is a free agent and most likely will not return to the Arizona Diamondbacks. He may, however, reunite with Washington Nationals general manager Mike Rizzo, the man who drafted Webb ten years ago.

In a move that is more likely a short-term solution than long-term answer, the Padres will activate third baseman Justin Leone and outfielder Terrmel Sledge for tonight's game in San Francisco. To clear room on the roster, right-handed pitchers Michael Thompson and Brian Sweeney will be sent back to Portland.
