The two-day MLB draft is complete with seven Cardinal players hearing their name called. Ace starting pitcher Greg Reynolds headlines the list with the selection at #2 overall to Colorado. All four seniors will begin their professional careers once the college season ends while two more juniors have the option of going pro or returning to the Farm for one more year.

Big Inning Leads To Series Win

Jim Rapoport's inside-the-park grand slam capped an eight-run fifth inning for Stanford Cardinal in their 11-4 victory over Arizona State Sunday. The win gives Stanford an impressive series win over the #16 team in the country. The Cardinal rapped out 12 hits while Matt Manship provided five solid innings of relief work in the victory.

Card Edge UOP With Ninth-Inning Run

Chris Minaker drove home John Hester with a single in the bottom of the ninth inning propelling the Stanford Cardinal to a 2-1 victory over the Pacific Tigers. On a cool Monday evening at Sunken Diamond, Stanford took advantage of poor UOP defense to score single runs in the seventh and ninth innings for the win. On the pitching side, three Cardinal hurlers combined on a dominant, 13-strikeout performance.

Cardinal Drop Series To WSU

After seven consecutive years of dominant play against Washington State (21-0 record), the Cougars finally got some revenge against the Cardinal. New-and-improved WSU mustered 7-1 and 8-5 victories in the first two games of the series before Stanford bounced back with a 5-3 win on Monday afternoon. Cardinal Use Extras To Defeat Bears

His error in the bottom of the ninth inning scored the tying run for California on Saturday afternoon. But shortstop Chris Minaker was given a chance to redeem himself and the red-hot senior came through with an RBI single in the top of the 11th inning sending Stanford to a dramatic 6-5 victory over their rivals. With the win, the Cardinal even the series at a game apiece with the rubber contest scheduled for Sunday afternoon.

Baseball Falters Late In Loss

Two Chris Lewis errors - on the same play - led to three unearned runs in the bottom of the eighth inning as the Fresno State Bulldogs rallied past the Cardinal, 7-5, on Saturday afternoon. The Stanford bullpen also struggled in the late innings as the Bulldogs came-from-behind to even the three-game series. The rubber contest is set for Sunday afternoon in Fresno.
