Mauga opens things up

One of the standout JC defensive lineman in the country this past season was Grossmont's Magnum Mauga (6-0, 290). He committed early to his childhood favorite, but after a misunderstanding, Mauga has now opened things back up and he's hoping to take at least one more visit before he signs his letter-of-intent the first week of February.

Mauga Will Not Sign Today

The last couple days have not been good for the BYU defensive line. On Monday, a Cougar freshman defensive end was indefinitely suspended, and today National Signing Day will come and go without BYU receiving a letter of intent from highly regarded Grossmont College defensive lineman Magnum Mauga.

Magnum Reloading

One of the top JC defensive tackles in the country is on the mend and on the BYU bandwagon. In between physical therapy and study sessions, four-star recruit Magnum Mauga watched BYU wound the Ducks in the Las Vegas Bowl on December 21st. Now he turns his full attention to getting physically and academically prepared to join the Cougar defense.

BYU Adds another JC Commit

The Cougars completed a busy week of recruiting with their fourth verbal commitment in seven days. With its latest addition, BYU will have another Helix High School product on its roster in 2007. If Helix does not ring a bell, it should. It is the home of NFL-bound Cougar Todd Watkins, Heisman Trophy winner Reggie Bush and number one NFL draft pick Alex Smith.
