He's got the size and the speed, but the jump to Division 1-A is what it is. The good thing is, junior college transfer Shukree Barfield is here in spring. It's a big leg up as he's already into it and already seeing just what this division has to offer. Barfield says he ready to do what he can and show what he can do.

One of the best defensive line tandems in junior college had to be from Garden City (Kans.) Junior College. The duo of Shukree Barfield and Kevin Dixon were unstoppable and might be headed to play division one together as well. The entire defensive line at Nebraska graduates this fall. There is immediate needs across the entire line, a line that has proven to be one of the best in college football this year. Nebraska is exploring the junior college route and targeted one of the best in Shukree Barfield.

Another from Garden City enjoys trip

There is little doubt that Shukree Barfield was one of the marquee visitors of the weekend. The 6-foot-4 and 310 pound one-technique tackle was part of one of the best defensive lines in junior college this year. Barfield took the trip with Kevin Dixon, also from Garden City, and the two were at the airport when Big Red Report caught up with them.

Huskers set to host pair from Garden City

It's convenient for Nebraska to have quality in the junior college ranks in Kansas. This year, Garden City had one of the better defensive lines in America, and especially their interior defensive line duo. Both are heading to Nebraska this coming weekend to check out Nebraska against Colorado. Big Red Report caught up with one of them to talk about the trip and their season.
