Tenth Inning Dooms Cardinal

The Stanford offense struggled Tuesday night at Sunken Diamond as they mustered just four hits through the first nine innings. Fantastic pitching though kept them in the contest and forced extra frames. Unfortunately, the top of the tenth wouldn't be so kind. The Santa Clara Broncos struck for five runs in the extra inning to notch a 6-1 victory over Stanford and send the Cardinal under .500 for the first time this year.

Card Split Two Midweek Games

After getting swept at Oregon State last weekend, the Cardinal returned to Sunken Diamond for a pair of midweek, non-conference affairs. Monday saw Stanford's losing streak reach four games after falling to San Francisco. However, the Cardinal bats erupted on Tuesday in a 12-5 victory over the Sacramento State Hornets. Stanford scored early and often in the win as they managed to move their record back over .500.

After two losses to Kansas earlier in the weekend, the Cardinal came back with an 8-3 victory over the Jayhawks on Sunday afternoon to salvage the final game of the series.
