Spring Ball Day 13: Broussard, Tardy talk RB

PULLMAN — There were fewer big hits and long bombs on Tuesday, with the coaching staff focusing on position drills and fundamentals. But that didn't stop a couple of playmakers from turning heads. Spring ball Day 2: Yarno, Bruiser talk depth

PULLMAN -- George Yarno and Steve Broussard talked about the WSU running game Friday after practice and the operative word from both -- Broussard speaking from the viewpoint of the backs and Yarno the hosses up front -- was depth. Or perhaps lack of. The Cougs aren't inexperienced in those position groups, but the spring season will determine which youngsters will fill the breach come fall.

Scrimmage Three: Defense makes strides

PULLMAN -- Weary legs and a crowded sideline didn't slow down the WSU defense Saturday. The day offered an opportunity for some backups to shine, with several taking advantage. There was good news from the training room on Chris Jordan, three rookie d-linemen logged sacks, the recently returned LB Cory Evans and CB Markus Dawes turned in standout plays and Brink-to-Hill again went long.

RB spot has talent, questions as camp opens

MANY STORY LINES surrounding the Cougs with fall practice opening this weekend are on defense. But there are compelling tales waiting to be written on offense, too, particularly at running back where WSU needs to replace Jerome Harrison. DeMaundray Woolridge sits atop the depth chart but running backs coach Kelly Skipper has also made it clear he'll have plenty of competition starting on Sunday.

Charles Harris' Diary: The Final entry

PULLMAN -- Hey Cougfans. Can you believe the entire Cougar Nation will be watching football in just 37 days? The summer has flown by. We open the season Sept. 2 at Auburn and it will be televised on ESPN2. This has been the most challenging and rewarding summer that the Cougs have had during my five years here. And since this is my final diary entry of the summer, I've got a lot to say!
