The Royals on Tuesday recalled right-handed pitcher Brian Bannister and announced that he will make Wednesday's start against the Indians in Cleveland. The club cleared room on its 25-man roster by placing reliever Doug Waechter on the 15-day disabled list.

There was a potentially interesting development today in Omaha. Brian Bannister made his scheduled start against the Albuquerque Isotopes, but he went just two innings, before being lifted for reliever Josh Newman. Bannister was perfect in his two innings of work, getting five groundouts and a strikeout.

They scratched Orlando Hernandez from Friday's start against Philadelphia, and he will be replaced by Brian Bannister, who was reinstated from the disabled list after Thursday night's 6-2 victory over St. Louis.
