Each of the young Mariners players in Arizona has specific things to work on during this 20th season of the Fall League. Beyond the statistics, the AFL is a chance for players to hone certain parts of their game.

Padres announce roster moves

San Diego, CA – The San Diego Padres today announced that catcher Josh Bard and left-handed pitcher Shawn Estes have elected free agency after clearing outright waivers. Additionally, right-handed pitcher Dirk Hayhurst has been claimed off waivers by the Toronto Blue Jays and catcher Luke Carlin and infielder Sean Kazmar have been outrighted to Triple-A Portland.

San Diego, CA – The San Diego Padres today placed catcher Josh Bard on the 15-day disabled list (retroactive to August 7) with a strained right tricep and recalled catcher Luke Carlin from Triple-A Portland.

San Diego, CA – The San Diego Padres today reinstated catcher Josh Bard from the 15-day disabled list and recalled left-handed pitcher Justin Hampson from Triple-A Portland. The club also optioned catcher Luke Carlin and left-handed pitcher Joe Thatcher to Portland.

Padres MLN: Maddux and expanded crew

Peoria, AZ- Four San Diego Padres regulars were on the field for the Triple-A game at the Peoria Sports Complex on Tuesday. Greg Maddux took the hill for five and Adrian Gonzalez, Kevin Kouzmanoff and Josh Bard took their turns in the box and the field. It was, however, the minor leaguers who drove in all the runs.
