This Saturday the Vandals will host the Utah State Aggies in the finale of what has turned out to be a season to remember for Idaho fans. Coach Akey and crew have delivered on promises made three years ago when they took over the Idaho program, making the Vandals the surprise of the WAC in 2009. Twelve seniors will play their last home game in Moscow Saturday, as the team battles for a bowl bid.

Junior cornerback BREYON WILLIAMS (shown here with a 34-1/2" vertical jump) was among a packed house at the Iverson Speed and Strength Center during the Vandal football team's "Night of Champions" weightlifting competition. Numerous new marks and personal bests were set this evening, including runningback Devon Sturdivant's new record of 383-pounds in the clean.

At the beginning of last season it was common knowledge that Idaho's depth at runningback would be young and inexperienced. With just one returning back with any game experience at all, Idaho would be looking for at least one of the freshmen to step up. Little did we know TWO would stand up to the challenge. TheInsiders.com is reporting that Idaho received its 3rd verbal commitment tonight from an Idaho highschool prospect (4th verbal overall). This time its <b>Jayson Bird</b>, the <i>Idaho Statesman</i> Class 3A Player of the Year for the 2003 football season. TheInsiders.com is reporting that Idaho received verbal commitments tonight from a pair of senior's from southern Idaho's Timberline High School. Teammates <b>Devon Sturdivant</b> (2nd Team All-State RB rated the #69 prospect in the Northwest) and <b>Taylor Rust</b> (1st Team All-Conference defensive end) are among the first to join new head football coach Nick Holt's first recruiting class.
