Basketball-Football Doubleheader For Herd

It's a rare doubleheader for Thundering Herd fans on Saturday, November 29. Well, maybe not so rare, as the Marshall men's and women's basketball teams also have a doubleheader on Tuesday, Dec. 2, at 4 p.m. for the ladies (vs. UT-Arlington) and 7:30 p.m. for the gentlemen (against ETSU). But first, Saturday, ODU will face Donnie Jones' team at 11:30 a.m., followed by football vs. TU at 3:30 p.m.

Houston? No Problem. Herd Wins, 37-23

Marshall broke out green game helmets, broke out the best game of 2008 and broke a three-game losing streak by stopping Houston's streak of wins at three by beating the Cougars, 37-23. The Herd improved to 4-4 and is now 3-1 in C-USA play. MU will be in first place in the East Division all alone until at least Nov. 2, when East Carolina takes on 1-2 UCF on a Sunday night game in Orlando on ESPN.

Herd Holds On For 17-16 Win Over Memphis

Receiver Steve Black had his heels on the goal line as the ball approached but senior Marshall safety C.J. Spillman knocked the pass away to save the day, and save the win, for the Herd, 17-16 over the Tigers.

Herd Looks To Redeem The Team In 2008

The US won the gold medal in men's basketball this year at Beijing in the Olympic Games held in China, redeeming a drop to bronze in 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, Greece. Marshall University last saw its football team post a winning regular season and make a trip to a bowl that same year, and the Herd is hoping to have a turnaround from a tough 3-9, injury-plagued season in 2007 starting game one.

Herd Works Wednesday Morning, Kicks P.M.

One down, one to go, was the theme of Wednesday morning when the Thundering Herd finished the next-to-last morning workout with some highlights on both sides of the ball. Defensively, you would have not know that, however, as Defensive Coordinator Rick Minter gave his white-shirted charges about an ear-full for 15 minutes after Head Coach Mark Snyder dismissed the team.
