Army Football Notebook

It seems fitting that Army center Pete Bier has been invited to the Green Bay Packers rookie camp later this month. He's from Milton, Wisconsin and has a Cheesehead mentality. Bier loves hunting, fishing, eating and, of course, playing football. He's a longshot to make the team, but Bier deserves a moment in the sun after all he gave to Army.

Army's Bier and Evans reinstated

Starting Army center Pete Bier has been reinstated by the NCAA. So has starting left guard Dan Evans. Whew! Now, it's time for the Black Knights to win some games. Expect Army to come out pumped for its home-opener against Kent State (0-1). Getting Bier and Evans back is a huge morale boost.

Army's offensive line stable and ready

Inexperienced David Pevoto is Army's starting quarterback. He has just 12 career passing attempts. Starting at running back........Stay tuned. But the starter will get his first varsity handoff on Sept. 2 when Army opens the 2006 season at Arkansas State.

Despite the absence of several impact players this spring due to injuries, Ross was pleased with the overall development of the Black Knights' front wall.
