As the one-year streak of the Kansas Jayhawks came to an end in the Sunflower Showdown, joyous Wildcat fans felt a huge sense of relief and pride once again as the players hoisted up the Governor's trophy. Watching the game and then letting it marinate for a day or so, here are a couple of things that struck me about the game.

The chant resonated from the student section as the waning seconds of the 2005 Sunflower Showdown ticked down. K-State had regained the Governor's Cup, but not in a fashion many expected, or wished to see. K-State's 12-3 victory was marred by a number of penalties and mistakes that reminded many fans of the previous week's loss to Oklahoma.

Coming off a game where Allan Evridge was inserted in the final minutes, could there be a change? Will the Wildcats have a new starting signal caller on Saturday? Transitioning from facing two former national leading rushers to facing one that finished second in the Big 12 last season should be a walk in the park, right? If only it were that easy. Tuesday afternoon, Coach Bill Snyder and players addressed the issue of facing sophomore standout Adrian Peterson and the effort it will take to derail the sooner rushing attack.

One is the reigning Big 12 offensive player of the week; the other would lead the Big 12 in rushing, if he qualified. Both Parrish Fisher and Thomas Clayton have proven they deserve to be on the field, and both will be ready in Norman. How will the two-headed monster play out?
