Flakes Reinstated to Fighting Illini Football Team

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - University of Illinois head football coach Ron Zook announced today that redshirt-freshman quarterback Kisan Flakes will be reinstated to the Illini football team beginning Monday, Sept. 5. The Lovejoy, Ga., native was previously suspended for violation of team rules. He will be suspended from game action for the first part of the season, but can rejoin the team in daily workouts.

I also was able to interview his mother, Ray Flakes. (The interview with Kisan was done over a two week period due to Kisan and I having problems getting together on the phone.-Gene)

Recruiting Update

The first major recruiting weekend is upon us now, with many high-profiled prospects making their way across the South, and rest of the county, to visit their potential new university.<P> Among the 17 or so visitors this weekend in Starkville are Rory Johnson of Vicksburg and Kisan Flakes of Lovejoy, Ga. Both players seemed excited about the weekend, and had several positive things to say about Mississippi State and newly-named head coach Sylvester Croom.
