Hisashi Iwakuma, who failed to sign with the Oakland A's last season after they won his rights via the posting system, comes to the Mariners now as a free agent. The deal he signed is very team-friendly but it also gives the 30-year-old Iwakuma the opportunity to pursue a more lucrative offer next season if he enjoys success with the Mariners in 2012.
