The Colorado Springs Sky Sox lost 17 of their 28 games in July, as they struggled to get any consistent pitching. Some of their starters pitched well, but they had two arms that had earned run averages over 5.00, and that hurt them in the long run.

The Colorado Springs Sky Sox have been a great feeder system to the Colorado Rockies during the past few seasons, and the 2007 roster is full of prospects who are ready to make the jump to the Major Leagues this season. With a nice mix of veterans and first time Triple-A players, the Sky Sox should make some noise in the Pacific Coast League in 2007.

The Colorado Rockies farm system got off to a successful start to the 2007 season, as three of the four teams who played won their respective ballgames. Eric Young led the way for Modesto from his leadoff spot, and the Rockies affiliates showed they have some great arms in their bullpens. The fans have been clamoring for bullpen help, and it was by far the D'Backs biggest weakness. Friday things (may have) gotten better as the D'Backs acquired Matt Herges from the Giants and Claudio Vargas from the Nationals.

The Giants were looking to end their roadtrip on a high, and stay close to .500 on the 7 game trip. Instead, Jerome Williams looked out of rhythm after getting his turn in the rotation skipped, and the Giants offense just looked befuddled by Brian Lawrence, who was throwing with the kind of velocity that is slower than Kirk Rueter.
