Padres sign Young, delete Bynum

The San Diego Padres signed free agent outfielder Eric Young to a one year contract. Reliever Mike Bynum was also designated for assignment.

Jared Wells best outing; Portland gains ground

Portland extends their lead over Tacoma to 1.5 games. Mike Bynum gets a well deserved save. Gabe Ribas took his seventh loss since joining Mobile, another drumming. Jared Wells had his best start of the year and just in time as he pitched the Lake Elsinore Storm into the wildcard lead. Fort Wayne will continue a suspended game on Sunday. Eugene cracked 100,000 but the pitching faltered again. Henry Colbert has been knocked around since rejoining the Emeralds.

Blown saves; bullpen blunders

Mike Bynum blows a save opportunity for Portland. Jake Gautreau had a four RBI game. R.D. Spiehs lets up a homer in the eighth inning. Completing the trifecta, the Storm bullpen took the loss on Monday. Sean Thompson walked six batters and allowed just one run. Eugene was clobbered as errors continue to hamper the team. Christopher Rayborn debuts in Peoria.
