Emeralds produce diamonds; Gabe Ribas hit hard

Marty McLeary is back in the bullpen and the signs are encouraging. Yamid Haad added four hits to the parade for the Beavers. Josh Barfield and Rico Washington homered again but Gabe Ribas was shelled for the second time in a row. Dale Thayer allowed a run and two inherited runs in the ninth but the Storm hung on. Fort Wayne gets one run scoring single but six Wizards cross the plate. Eugene plated 16 runs in an easy win. Fabian Jimenez gave up season highs in several categories in a loss.

Padres Bats Alive, Pitching Dead in Loss

The San Diego Padres bats finally came alive on Monday. Too bad the pitching did not follow suit. It wasn't until the seventh inning that the Friars pitchers didn't allow a run in an inning. The top minor league clubs fared reasonably well as they continue their quest for post-season play.
