Castro Brings Consistency To Clippers

Bernie Castro has provided the Triple-A Columbus Clippers with a consistent presence at the plate this season.  Batting .277, Castro has not made any big, outstanding plays but has continued to do well game after game for the Clippers.

Two suspended; Dirk Hayhurst pummelled

Big updates from the Portland Beavers, including the medal round, suspensions, new starters and new closers. Roger Deago left the game having allowed one run due to a rain delay but was charged four. Dirk Hayhurst had his worst outing as a professional. Sean Thompson had another solid outing wasted. Jake Vose made his first start of the year. An error on Trino Aguilar cost the game.

The rash of injuries to big name players last season has the San Diego Padres on edge. The result is some players who pronounce themselves as able are relegated to playing the waiting game. The club having its own stadium to workout in will help, as will new programs being developed to keep the team healthy and limber.<br><br> Meanwhile, rain threatens to cut the team's practices this week and will likely hinder the progress of the recovering players.

Padres Blanked 10-0 by Marlins

Every San Diego Padres pitcher that entered the game on Friday allowed a run. Oliver Perez allowed five in four innings of work. The offense didn't show up as the managed just six hits on the day against Brad Penny and two relievers.
