Defensive line is key vs. ASU; Martin done?

COACH BILL DOBA said if the Cougs are to win Saturday, the Washington State defensive line has to step up and bring the heat against Arizona State and their young quarterback Rudy Carpenter. Punter Kyle Basler wowed NFL scouts earlier this week in a rain storm. Plus, who's playing and who's injured, and receiver Marty Martin's Cougar career might be over due to a concussion.

FALL CAMP DAY 5: Trainers take on prominent role

PULLMAN -- With Thursday's practice the first in full pads, harsh collisions were the order of the day. The injury list continues to grow, but coach Bill Doba said it's not as bad as it appears. Still, the names include Will Derting, Marty Martin and Michael Bumpus. Adding to the concern, an ambulance was required to take Martin to the hospital after a crushing hit by Husain Abdullah Thursday, although it appeared to be for purely precautionary measures.

Spring Ball Day 11: Martin, Siderius shine

PULLMAN --- There's a phrase that's becoming a cliché on the Palouse these days: <i><b>Marty Martin</b> had a good day of practice</i>. The junior receiver from Puyallup looked sharp again today, making tough catches over the middle and in traffic. And taking it all in was a young guy who'd like nothing more than to line up next to Martin this fall: Highly touted incoming freshman receiver <b>Michael Bumpus</b>.
