And what it all tells me about this Saturday's game between Washington and Washington State is that the Cougars' road to Apple Cup redemption will be found on the ground, not in the air.

Spring Ball Day 11: Martin, Siderius shine

PULLMAN --- There's a phrase that's becoming a cliché on the Palouse these days: <i><b>Marty Martin</b> had a good day of practice</i>. The junior receiver from Puyallup looked sharp again today, making tough catches over the middle and in traffic. And taking it all in was a young guy who'd like nothing more than to line up next to Martin this fall: Highly touted incoming freshman receiver <b>Michael Bumpus</b>.

AS ROBERT DUVALL once said, "I love the smell of crimson in the morning." OK, so the operative word actually was napalm. But you have to admit the Cougar D is about as defoliating as they come these days. They're so good that they played, for them, a comparatively lackluster game against Arizona and yet at day's end had compiled a remarkable box score.
