Summary: While the Portland Beavers had the exact same team ERA as a season ago, they managed to win 12 more games and ended the year with a 70-74 record. Still, the team finished 13th in the 16-team Pacific Coast League with a 5.08 ERA.

Padres announce roster moves

San Diego, CA – The San Diego Padres today announced that catcher Josh Bard and left-handed pitcher Shawn Estes have elected free agency after clearing outright waivers. Additionally, right-handed pitcher Dirk Hayhurst has been claimed off waivers by the Toronto Blue Jays and catcher Luke Carlin and infielder Sean Kazmar have been outrighted to Triple-A Portland.

The Transition Game

After winning the Double-A championship in 2007 with the San Antonio Missions, several players made the leap up to Triple-A Portland this year.
