Six players were once Padres. Steve Watkins has been perfect in relief and got the win for Portland. Chris Rojas' numbers were awful but they do not tell the tale. Clark Girardeau was clobbered for the second straight game. Greg Conden wasn't supposed to pitch on Friday and merely threw shutout ball over six. Michael Ekstrom made a solid start for Eugene and errors came back to haunt the Ems.

Eugene lost two low scoring games with Gary Gallegos falling to 0-3 and the season is but two weeks old. Seven errors by the Rookie League Padres told most of the story.

All of the San Diego Padres minor league teams lost on Tuesday and many of the games were blowouts. Brian Sweeney is back in Portland and got his feet wet in relief. Matt Bruback took his seventh loss. Mobile was blown away and resorted to a fielder to pitch the end of the game. Lake Elsinore has lost six straight and five errors were no help. Peter Stonard may be lost forever. Greg Conden suffered the worst outing of any player in the organization.

Two pitchers made debuts in new leagues on Sunday. While one gave up quite a few runs, he earned the win. Another gave up just one run and did not win. Such is life in the minors. Sometimes they hit for you (Lake Elsinore) and other times they don't (Fort Wayne). If Fort Wayne keeps it up, they may be playing tee ball by the end of the year.
