The Lake Elsinore Storm sported one of the best bullpens in all the minor leagues last season. With the San Diego Padres love for relievers it should come as no surprise that they are grooming their own. We caught up with pitching coach Steve Webber to get his thoughts on the subject.

Ben Johnson performed well from the leadoff spot. Of not for Colt Morton, the BayBears would have been no-hit. Lake Elsinore is still unsure of its playoff fate, despite a seven-run outburst in 11 on the strength of a Tim Brown double and a Sean Kazmar homer. Nathan Culp has a nice tuneup for the playoff run. Jeremy Hunt propels Eugene to victory over a foe that had won ten games without a loss.

Paul McAnulty has a nine game hitting streak. Jack Cassel lasted just a third inning. George Kottaras launched two out of the park. Sean Thompson was strong but the bullpen wasn't. The bullpen was money in Lake Elsinore and a late rally propelled them to victory. Kyle Blanks showed off his power in a win. Manny Ayala makes his debut and records all his outs by way of the strikeout.
