DAYTONA BEACH — Cubs pitching prospect Joél Santo has taken advantage of the recent track back into the starting rotation at Class-A Daytona, and his latest showing in the Florida State League only added to something that the slender right-hander and his coaches have been looking for all along this season.

Cubs pitching prospect Joel (JO-EL) Santo was back in the starting rotation for Class-A Daytona last week following an organizational decision that sent top prospect Jeff Samardzija to the bullpen. Santo pitched six strong innings and allowed only one run on three hits in his start last Wednesday, but is he in the rotation to stay?

DAYTONA BEACH – Greg Reinhard hadn't done much relieving in his career until after he was traded to the Cubs as part of the deal that sent Jae-Kuk Ryu to Tampa Bay this past February. Now after two months in the bullpen, the right-hander is headed back to the starting rotation.

The Padres acquired hard-throwing reliever Scott Williamson from the Chicago Cubs for Class-A pitchers Fabian Jimenez and Joel Santo on Saturday. The move - which sends two young pitchers who have never figured out how to turn their ability into success - likely increases the willingness of the Padres to include Scott Linebrink in a deal for the right third baseman.

Ben Johnson returned to Portland with a bang – a walk-off game winner. The BayBears were shutout for the fifth time this year. Leo Rosales got the win for Lake Elsinore in his second go-round with the club. Skip Adams had a three-hit night with three RBI's. Joel Santo likes the starting rotation.

A late rally gives Lake Elsinore a win with Jonathan Ellis picking up career save number one. Joel Santo pitched beautifully as Fort Wayne provided one of two shutouts on the night.
