Williamson Nets Two Class-A Pitchers

PEORIA, IL— When the Chicago Cubs traded reliever Scott Williamson Saturday night, the organization picked up two Class A pitchers from the San Diego Padres and both hurlers were assigned to the Peoria Chiefs. The Chiefs expect Fabien Jimenez Angulo and Joel Santo to join the team in Lansing at some point Sunday and make the trip to Grand Rapids, MI for the Monday night game against West Michigan.

Padres get Williamson for Class-A pitching

The Padres acquired hard-throwing reliever Scott Williamson from the Chicago Cubs for Class-A pitchers Fabian Jimenez and Joel Santo on Saturday. The move - which sends two young pitchers who have never figured out how to turn their ability into success - likely increases the willingness of the Padres to include Scott Linebrink in a deal for the right third baseman.
