With their backs against the wall, the Sacramento River Cats came out fighting on Friday night in front of a loud home crowd. Sacramento fought back from an early 3-1 deficit to beat the Salt Lake Bees and force a Game Four by a score of 7-4.

On May 12th, the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees were on there way to finishing up a long home stand and Yankee farmhand Kevin Thompson was still trying to break out of a slump he was having at the plate. With a long eight-game roadtrip staring him in the face, the eight year veteran was only batting .211, far below his career minor league average of .275.

Columbus Clippers outfielder Kevin Thompson has defined himself with speed ever since his career began in 2000. This season, however, has been a different story as the outfielder has racked up just 16 stolen bases on the year.

The leadoff hitter is usually the man that gets things started, gets on base, and scores runs for the team. While starting all but three games at leadoff this year, Columbus Clippers outfielder Kevin Thompson had been struggling this year until his three-hit game on Saturday. Through Saturday, he finally is getting his average back to near .300. What hurts the most however, is his surprisingly low .363 on-base percentage.
