Three Atlantic 10 Teams Get NCAA Bids

Three Atlantic 10 men's basketball teams received bids to the 2008 NCAA Championship Tournament. Xavier, the regular season champ, is a number 3 seed in the West; Temple which won the A-10's automatic bid last night is a number 12 seed in the South; and Saint Joseph's, the A-10 tournament runner-up, is an 11 seed in the East. Congrats to these programs, the schools and their fans.

Owls Stop 49ers Comeback for 60-46 A-10 Win

Charlotte, which had rallied for two comeback wins in their previous tourney contests, fell short tonight as the Temple Owls won, 60-45, in the second semifinal of the Atlantic 10 Conference Men's Basketball Championship tournament Friday night at Atlantic City's Boardwalk Hall. The Owls will face Saint Joseph's in the A-10 Championship game, Saturday, March 15, 2008, at 6:00 p.m. on ESPN.

Charlotte Upends #3 UMass, 69-65, at A-10s

Leemire Goldwire canned three treys in the final 3 1/2 minutes to power Charlotte's 12-3 run that gave the 49ers a 69-65 upset win over Massachusetts Thursday evening in an Atlantic 10 Conference Men's Basketball Championship quarterfinal at Atlantic City's Boardwalk Hall.

Dukes Still at 16 Wins Following 89-82 Loss

Duquesne remained stuck at the winning-season guaranteed 16 wins for the fourth straight game as Charlotte took the Dukes, 89-82, in North Carolina. The good news, Kojo Mensah's scoring improved. The bad news, Shawn James missed the final 10 minutes of the game.
