Marshall Picks Up Two QBs and LB

Press Taylor, who quarterbacked Butler Co. (Kan) Community College to a national junior college championship last weekend, gave Marshall University a commitment on a visit this weekend, according to internet reports and Huntington's The Herald-Dispatch. Also committing on the weekend trip was Zakee Bashir, a linebacker from Walnut Ridge High School (Columbus, Ohio) who was also offered by Toledo.

Field Goal Separates Tulsa From Herd, 38-35

HUNTINGTON - It was one of the best efforts of the season for the Thundering Herd but, much like the season, the result was a disappointment for Marshall and its fans. Tulsa and the Herd traded punches throughout the game that came down to a 22-yard field goal by Tulsa's Jarod Tracy with just 3:42 to play to give the Golden Hurricane a hard-fought 38-35 win over MU.

Basketball-Football Doubleheader For Herd

It's a rare doubleheader for Thundering Herd fans on Saturday, November 29. Well, maybe not so rare, as the Marshall men's and women's basketball teams also have a doubleheader on Tuesday, Dec. 2, at 4 p.m. for the ladies (vs. UT-Arlington) and 7:30 p.m. for the gentlemen (against ETSU). But first, Saturday, ODU will face Donnie Jones' team at 11:30 a.m., followed by football vs. TU at 3:30 p.m.

Knights Fall On Herd, 30-14

Right from the start, MU was struggling. A new Marco outfit was met with an uneven response, then Kase Whitehead let a punt slip through his hands on the first series the Herd had and UCF took control of a game that Marshall never really threatened in. In the first loss at Homecoming since 1992, the Herd falls for the fourth consecutive time to UCF, 30-14, in a game where the Herd lacked offense.

Herd Works Wednesday Morning, Kicks P.M.

One down, one to go, was the theme of Wednesday morning when the Thundering Herd finished the next-to-last morning workout with some highlights on both sides of the ball. Defensively, you would have not know that, however, as Defensive Coordinator Rick Minter gave his white-shirted charges about an ear-full for 15 minutes after Head Coach Mark Snyder dismissed the team.

Marshall Offense Wins Green Jerseys, 55-33

The Marshall defense had been dominating the offense of the Thundering Herd all week in practice, but during a "jersey" scrimmage on Saturday in front of another large crowd of Herd fans, the offense did what it was unable to do all last fall: jump out to an early lead. The offense will keep the green jerseys, jumping to a 10-0 lead and won, 55-33, behind four touchdowns and long field goal.

Offense Served "Big Mac Attack" Wed. Morn.

Coach Mark Snyder often tells the media that practice is scripted to allow either the offense or the defense to win a practice by the plays put in or the "tools" players are allowed to use. On Wednesday morning, however, it looked like except for one trick play long touchdown, the defense was the unit who had skipped breakfast and ate up the offense all morning in the second two-a-day workday.

Herd Has Great Workout, Great Weather

Marshall got back to work with one full-go workout on Tuesday before returning to work with its second two-a-day on Wednesday. The Herd worked on blitz period and turned its attention to the goal line for the first time. Most of all, Mark Snyder notices a change in attitude among this edition of the Thundering Herd football team, his fourth as head coach.
