When Alabama Assistant Coach Paul Randolph was recruiting tight end Travis McCall of Prattville in the fall of 2003, Randolph went to Defensive Coordinator Joe Kines for some advice. Kines had been on the Bama staff in the 1980s and had recruited Cornelius Bennett to Alabama. Bennett had been a tight end in high school, but was moved to defense in college.
