WAC Wrapup: Men's Hoops

Idaho's disappointing 4-24 regular season came to a prompt close last week with the Vandals' first round WAC Tournament loss to Conference Champ Nevada, 68-55. Idaho ended their inaugural Western Athletic Conference season with a 4-25 record, including 1-15 in WAC games. Despite the rough road, Idaho's lone senior TANORIS SHEPARD ended an impressive career at Idaho by making an impact on the Vandal history book.

Idaho stuns Fresno State

Senior guard TANORIS SHEPARD scored his 1000th career point Monday night (enroute to a 29-point effort) to help lead the Vandal men to their first Conference win of their inaugual season in the Western Athletic Conference, beating Fresno State 72-61 in Moscow at the Cowan Spectrum.

"Disappointed in losses, not in effort"

After dropping a 78-71 decision to 5-1 Idaho State Wednesday night, Vandal Head Coach Leonard Perry was asked how far away he felt his young squad was from putting together a complete game offensively and defensively. "From a mental toughness standpoint, we're not there," Perry said. "We're just not quite there. We're going to continue to put our kids in tough situations in practice and see if we can get there."

Vandal Women Advance in Tourney, Men out

Fueled by an outstanding 27 point performance by sophomore point guard <b>Leilani Mitchell</b>, the Vandal women improved their season mark to 18-10 with their quarterfinal victory over UC Irvine.
