Coming off a game like Missouri is bound to leave a few doubts in people's minds. That might apply to players and coaches as well. The goal, of course, is to make sure that one defeat doesn't turn into another, then another. To that end, the staff and players got back to practice today, and as Kevin Cosgrove said, it's time to move forward without looking too much behind.

After a game like Ball State, some would say that you should just tear the defense apart and rebuild. Going into conference play, that's obviously not going to happen, nor should it. Defensive Coordinator Kevin Cosgrove talked to after practice about what they need to fix and what they are facing when Iowa State arrives. You will also see at least one new face on that side of the ball.

When you give up over 600 yards throughout the course of a game, no defensive coordinator is going to be happy. You can bet Kevin Cosgrove wasn't as his team got lit up on the ground last week by USC and this week Ball State did it through the air. There's a lot to fix, but Nebraska held fast and ultimately won. That's the good Cosgrove takes out of a defensively meager day.

With any win, no matter how convincing, there are a number of things which need to improve. Almost always, it comes down to fundamentals and technique. The Nevada thumping was no different, and as Defensive Coordinator Kevin Cosgrove said, his team can play a lot better than that.
