THE REGULAR signing period in college basketball begins today and Washington State has three openings available in its 2017 class. But the guess here is that new faces won't be announced by coach Ernie Kent until later in the process, which extends to May 17. Why? Two reasons.

ERNIE KENT just made it official: Ed Haskins, one of the titans of Seattle’s legendary basketball-talent-producing scene, is joining the hoops staff at Washington State. The move is nothing less than head turning for this simple reason: Haskins will be the first of Seattle’s esteemed basketball mentors over the last two decades to join one of the region’s four Pac-12 coaching staffs.

ERNIE KENT figures to be one of the most popular guys in Phoenix this weekend as basketball coaches from all across the land come together at the Final Four to talk shop and, perhaps most importantly, build their networks. Washington State’s head man has two slots on his staff to fill with news today that Greg Graham and Silvey Dominguez won’t be back next season.
