Three Atlantic 10 men's basketball teams received bids to the 2008 NCAA Championship Tournament. Xavier, the regular season champ, is a number 3 seed in the West; Temple which won the A-10's automatic bid last night is a number 12 seed in the South; and Saint Joseph's, the A-10 tournament runner-up, is an 11 seed in the East. Congrats to these programs, the schools and their fans.

They shared this year's Big 5 crown; their shooting, rebounding, and points per game numbers are very close; and, they split the two previous regular season games. Not too surprising this Atlantic 10 Championship game was very competitive with Temple pulling out a 69-64 victory over Saint Joseph's, Saturday night at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, N.J.

Charlotte, which had rallied for two comeback wins in their previous tourney contests, fell short tonight as the Temple Owls won, 60-45, in the second semifinal of the Atlantic 10 Conference Men's Basketball Championship tournament Friday night at Atlantic City's Boardwalk Hall. The Owls will face Saint Joseph's in the A-10 Championship game, Saturday, March 15, 2008, at 6:00 p.m. on ESPN.

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - Massachusetts senior swingman Gary Forbes, who enters this week's Championship tied for the Atlantic 10 lead in scoring, has been tabbed the 2007-08 men's basketball Player of the Year in voting conducted among the Conference's 14 head coaches.

Last December, Temple guard Mark Tyndale was on the bench, forced to watch the first six games of the 2006-07 campaign because he didn't get the job done in the classroom. What a difference six months makes. On Tuesday, Tyndale was named to the Atlantic 10 Commissioner's Honor Roll, which requires a 3.50 GPA.
