Left-hander Eric Milton, currently on the 15-day disabled list, underwent surgery to remove a herniated disk and will probably miss the rest of the season. The veteran was 2-1 over five starts.

Thirty-three year old Eric Milton, and a solid 12-hit batting attack, gave the Dodgers a split in the four-game series in Chicago and a 5-2 road trip record as they went 20-9 in May, posting its highest win total for the month since going 21-7 in 1962. The Dodgers opened the first inning with five straight singles, added a double and led 5-0 before the Cubs came to bat.

Eric Milton, who last won in St. Louis on August 8, 2008, scattered seven hits and overwhelmed Colorado before leaving in the sixth inning as the Dodgers wrapped up a 7-1 win, their seventh in eight games against the Rockies. Casey Blake had a key three-run double in the fifth.
