OSU takes hit at LB, opportunity awaits youth

OREGON STATE's LINEBACKER corps have taken a second, considerable hit heading into spring football. Middle linebacker David Pa'aluhi III has withdrawn from school to join the United States Armed Forces, head man Mike Riley announced Thursday.

FALL CAMP DAY 5: A quartet for Poyer

CORVALLIS--Joe Halahuni continued as a favorite fall camp target, and Sean Canfield found him on multiple occasions Friday. Keith Pankey made his presence known, as did frosh safety Jordan Poyer -- and Poyer may not be counting but Mike Riley is keeping score. Meanwhile, Quizz was just being Quizz, with his customary blend of shake, rattle and roll.

CORVALLIS--With the loss of four seniors off the depth chart, one might ponder whether a drop off in the linebacking corps this season for the Beavs is looming. But with senior strongside linebacker and Lott Trophy watch list member Keaton Kristick, fast rising David Pa'aluhi plus other young developing talent, the 2009 Beavs might just field the strongest linebackers unit OSU has seen in years.
