Fifteen Arizona Diamondbacks minor leaguers have filed for free agency this winter. While it is possible for them to re-sign with the Diamondbacks, the team only retains exclusive negotiating rights to these players through 10 pm Mountain time on Thursday, November 19.

Tony Abreu Completes Garland Trade

The Arizona Diamondbacks have acquired infielder Tony Abreu from the Dodgers to complete the August 31 trade for Jon Garland. The deal had been delayed by a grievance filed by Abreu regarding his official service time at the major league level. The Dodgers and Abreu reached a settlement, and the infielder will find himself in competition for the open second baseman's job next spring.
