Fittingly, Walter Hodge, Florida's lone senior playing in his final home game, stood at the free throw line with 7.7-seconds left in Saturday's game against Kentucky. The winningest player in program history knocked down 1-of-2 to give him a game-high 18 points as the Gators kept their NCAA hopes alive with a 60-53 win over Kentucky at the O'Dome.

The lone senior on this year's Gator basketball team will be the center of attention Saturday. Walter Hodge plays his final regular season game in the O'Connell Center when the Gators host Kentucky. It'll be a farewell for the guy who has played in more wins than anyone in school history.

Florida coach Billy Donovan said there will be further action against senior guard Walter Hodge for his ejection from the Kentucky game. Hodge was thrown out of the game with 16:21 to go after stepping on the arm of Wildcats player Perry Stevenson.

After the first season in a decade without an NCAA Tournament bid, the Florida Gators head into the off-season with a pretty clear situation. The Gators have nine potential returning players and a recruiting class of five to make up the roster for next season. At least one of those 14 players (and possibly more) won't be part of the picture.

The Florida Gators are off to a remarkable start to the SEC season. With wins in five of their first six games, Florida holds a slight lead over Tennessee in the East division, and the Vols have spent all of the season in the top 10 of both polls. Looking at the numbers, it's clear to see that several Gators have stepped up their games during conference play.

Florida guard Walter Hodge discussed the Kentucky and Florida teams of the previous two seasons. When asked about what separated the teams Hodge said, "We wanted to win. We didn't like to lose. I am sure Kentucky didn't want to lose, either, but maybe they just didn't work as hard."
