This Saturday, fourteen seniors will take the field for the last time in their playing career at Idaho, as the Vandals take on Utah State at 12:30 PM (PST) in the Kibbie Dome. The senior class includes five on offense and nine on defense. It is unlikely any class has seen so much transition at Idaho, and inside is our salute to a fantastic group of dedicated athletes.

Tuesday afternoon's practice was one of the best for Idaho in weeks, as a number of Vandals who had been recovering from injuries earlier in the season made their way back to the gridiron. Among the group seeing significant action was redshirt sophomore wide receiver LEE SMITH.

One of the more touted recruits of the 2004 recruiting class, BEN ALEXANDER came to Idaho with exceptional speed (4.3-40) and a knack for playing defense. By the middle of '04 he was seeing significant playing time at linebacker. Last fall he moved up to rush end and had a fantastic season. We caught up with Ben this week to ask about his expectations for himself and the team this fall.

We keep hearing how the Vandal defensive line is "small" this year. In terms of height? Maybe. But what this group may lack in height they make up for with significant playing time, throughout the depth chart, over the course of the last two seasons. Senior RYAN DAVIS leads an experienced Vandal defensive front four that has more size in the chart than Idaho has fielded in years.

With a week left before Letter of Intent signing day (Wednesday, February 1), we take a quick look at the Vandal football roster, and in particular Idaho's linebacker depth chart. Some personnel changes are in store as the team continues winter conditioning in preparation for spring drills. Look for several key players, including true junior-to-be Brandon Ogletree, to make position changes this spring.

Idaho coach Nick Holt has claimed that recruiting the trenches will be a priority this year, and he's sticking to that statement so far in this recruiting season. This week Idaho received verbals from a linebacker (southern California), 2 defensive linemen (Washington), and 2 offensive linemen (including Adam Korby from Colorado, the other from California).
