Escobar to the DL

Kelvim Escobar says it's nothing to be alarmed about, but he was placed on the 15-day disabled list (retroactive to July 7) on Friday with a sore elbow. Escobar, 6-9 with a 3.88 ERA, will miss his next start, scheduled for Tuesday against Cleveland. The injury is in the same elbow on which he had surgery last year.

Kelvim Escobar agrees to three-year contract

Angels' right-handed pitcher Kelvim Escobar has agreed to a three-year contract extension (through the 2009 season). Per club policy, no other terms of the contract were released, though Escobar was already working under a three-year, $18.75 million deal which was set to expire at the end of the season.
