Colorado will field its most experienced, and possibly its best, defensive line in years this fall. At the same time, CU needs to improve its pass rush from the front four – or three – in 2008. It remains to be seen if they can accomplish that.

It seems like only a couple of months ago, Alonzo Barrett was the scrawny, new kid trying to learn the ropes from his teammates as he adjusted to Division I football. But now Barrett is playing the part of the grizzled vet, breaking in young players. Barrett is taking a leadership role as CU replaces two departed defensive ends this season.
It's hard to believe that Maurice Lucas will already be a junior when he suits up for the Buffs next fall. Inside, the highest profile recruit from the 2005 class talks about taking on more of a leadership role as he tries to fill the shoes of departed players on the defensive line, his goals for this spring and the winter workouts.
In his weekly press conference on Tuesday, Gary Barnett spoke about how the Buffs escaped Manhattan with a win, and looked forward to what challenges Missouri will bring this Saturday.

Colorado is on target to obliterate its team record for penalties in a season (97). However, after CU's 23-20 win at Kansas State, the Buffs still have a shot at a 10-win season, something only seven Colorado teams have accomplished.
