Positive Reinforcements

Today, the New Orleans Pelicans agreed to terms with two players who fill out their 15-man roster. Earlier, we talked about the sweet 3-year deal given to 2nd round draft pick Cheick Diallo. They also decided to keep incumbent small forward Alonzo Gee in the fold. This agreement is basically just a blip on the national landscape radar, but for the Pelicans, it's actually a very solid signing...and here's why.

From the Ridiculous to the Sublime

What do the names Anthony Davis, Tyreke Evans, Eric Gordon, Ryan Anderson, Quincy Pondexter, Norris Cole and Bryce Dejean Jones mean to you? Well, they are all key members of the New Orleans Pelicans who have not been on the court recently, and most are out for the season. Incredibly, the Pels just added two more important names to the out-for-the-season list. And if I hadn't seen these injuries with my own eyes, I'd never believe it myself. This is absolutely the worst luck I've ever seen...

This Is Getting Ridiculous

The British rock band The Who once had a famous line from a song that went, "I can see for miles and miles....and miles and miles...and miles." You get the picture. But on Thursday, the decimated-by-injury Pelicans playing with only 8 healthy players faced the Indiana Pacers version of 'Myles and Miles' all night long. Rookie Myles Turner had a monster night with 24 points & 16 rebounds, and teammate CJ Miles chipped in with 19. The Pelicans play with heart, but sometimes that's not enough...

Alonzo Gee Lands In The Big Easy

Alonzo Gee has staying power. An undrafted free agent coming out of Alabama in the spring of 2009, he is entering his seventh NBA season . The powerfully built 6-6, 225 pound swing man earned a spot on the New Orleans Pelicans roster. Saturday was the home opener for the Western Conference team.

Alonzo Gee Wins Game For Cleveland

Alonzo Gee's put-back off the glass of an errant three-point attempt by teammate Dion Waiters with .4 seconds remaining was the game winner tonight for the Cleveland Cavaliers against the hometown Atlanta Hawks. The 113-111 victory was a sweet moment for the former Crimson Tide player in town the day before tomorrow's SEC Championship Football Game between Alabama and Georgia.

Alonzo Gee Called Up To NBA

Washington, D.C. – Former University of Alabama men's basketball standout Alonzo Gee has been signed to a 10-day NBA contract by the Washington Wizards, the team announced Sunday. Gee will join the team and was to be available for Sunday evening's game at Boston.

Catching Up With Former Tider

Alonzo Gee was not drafted by an NBA franchise after completing his Alabama basketball eligibility last season. The San Antonio Spurs soothed his initial disappointment by signing him to their Las Vegas Summer League roster. A brief audition with the Minnesota Timberwolves ended with his release. Hope to pursue his dream was resurrected with the NBA Development League's November draft.
