WE SHOULD HAVE EXPECTED THIS. After a 2009 season in which Idaho (8-5, 4-4 WAC) came back to win in thrilling fashion on numerous occasions, we should have expected it in today's Humanitarian Bowl. But apparently these resilient Vandals saved their best heart-stopping comeback for last, beating Bowling Green 43-42 on an improbable 66-yard drive in the final 26 seconds, capped by a 2-point play.

This Saturday the Vandals will host the Utah State Aggies in the finale of what has turned out to be a season to remember for Idaho fans. Coach Akey and crew have delivered on promises made three years ago when they took over the Idaho program, making the Vandals the surprise of the WAC in 2009. Twelve seniors will play their last home game in Moscow Saturday, as the team battles for a bowl bid.

In a game televised nationally on ESPN-U, the Idaho Vandals defeated the Colorado State Rams Saturday night in the Dome, improving to 4-1 on the season. Idaho overcame a 14-point first half deficit for a 31-29 win. The Vandals had numerous scoring opportunities in the first half, but traded Washington touchdowns for Idaho field goals throughout the first and second quarters. Down 21-9 at the half, the Idaho kickoff team recovered a fumble on the opening kickoff of the third quarter but couldn't capitalize. Going into the 2009 season, if there was one position on the Idaho roster that was well stocked, it was at tailback. That chart got a little bit deeper with the addition of senior DEMAUNDRAY WOOLRIDGE, a gifted 5-9, 241-pound bull of a back with speed who started his college career at Washington State and burst onto the scene in 2006 with a stellar 86 yard, nine carry performance against Auburn.
