Meyer: Munroe Out 5-6 Weeks

Practice reports are sometimes a mixed bag and Monday was no exception as Urban Meyer tries to spur on his second unit to push harder and make a move before the season starts. The Florida Gators are a veteran team and the older guys seem poised to make noise again in defending their national championship. The first serious injury to a player in the two-deep was also reported.

Heater has Safeties Battling To Start

Don't let Urban Meyer's words over the summer about his group of safeties get lost in the shuffle this preseason. As the Gators set to repeat as national champions, the safety position couldn't be in better hands. However, whose hands they will be in isn't set yet as Meyer said he has four starters at safety. Chuck Heater coaches them up and likes the idea of the competition.

Dorian Munroe: The 12th Starter

One common theme for the Florida defense in the off-season is that the entire two-deep is back from a national championship and a defense that finished ranked No. 8 in the country despite a very good schedule. DAY 3: Dorian Munroe Looking to Play

Recently I wrote a column about the guys I thought would have "breakout" type seasons in 2006. On that list is safety Dorian Munroe and after two days in shorts I am even more convinced the redshirt freshman safety from Miami will be a force for the Gators this fall. Munroe has average size at 6' 203, but he has way above average change of direction, which is a key for a defensive back.

SIGNEE SPOTLIGHT: Urban sealed the deal for Munroe

Miami Coral Reef Senior High safety Dorian Munroe made plenty of big plays that drew ooooh's and aaaah's from the crowd throughout his 6-A career in South Florida, but on National Signing Day, the only sound heard was that of the Gator fans cheer's as UF landed the standout defensive back.
