Padres Prospect Report: August 5, 2009

Josh Geer to Nick Hundley – in Portland – while Craig Stansberry flirts with a cycle. Matt Buschmann may have to get comfortable in relief. Cesar Ramos is in Lake Elsinore and James Darnell is sending them out. Drew Cumberland is a hit out of the leadoff spot. Nick Greenwood has another solid start and Chris Fetter nets a save. Deiber Sanchez is rocked. Luis Domoromo hits his sixth triple.

Padres Prospect Report: June 14, 2009

Wade LeBlanc pitches well but the Portland offense doesn't awaken until the ninth. Stephen Faris helps his own cause with two runs scored but gets a no-decision with the offense exploding in the eighth. Jeremy McBryde is battered in his worst start of the year. Sawyer Carroll and James Darnell each collect four hits in an offensive explosion.

Padres Prospect Report: June 3, 2009

Wade LeBlanc seems to be getting stronger and stronger as the season progresses. Scott Rice makes his first appearance in the system and takes a loss. Jeremy Hefner has a solid outing for the Storm but little run support. Matt Clark leads the Midwest League in RBI and Brad Brach closes out another shutout. The DSL Padres get just two hits while three pitchers debut to varying degrees of success.

Will Venable hammers two balls out of the yard and Craig Stansberry goes deep for the third straight game but Portland loses. Craig Cooper has three more RBI but Ernesto Frieri has his worst start to date. Wynn Pelzer does not like pitching to High Desert. Stiven Osuna is pummeled – recording just four outs in a thrashing.

Padres Prospect Report: May 25, 2009

Matt Buschmann has successive solid outings while Craig Stansberry gets on the board. Craig Cooper hits a late homer but it isn't enough in a loss. Jeremy McBryde is money over seven strong outings and gets backing from Felix Carrasco and Yefri Carvajal. Blake Tekotte busts out while the saves pile up for Brad Brach.

Forsythe streaking; Durango, Lara break ties

Greg Burke has been money in the closer role and Joe Thatcher is stellar as the bridge. Luis Durango breaks a tie in the eighth with a bases loaded single. Yefri Carvajal and Logan Forsythe are two of the three that homered in Cha Seung Baek's rehab start. Robert Lara breaks a 3-3 tie with a double clearing the bags but a fine Simon Castro outing is wasted.

Portland Beavers 2009 Season Preview

Synopsis: There will be many familiar faces, especially on the mound, and one very big new one in Kyle Blanks. Look for rebound years from Matt Antonelli and Chad Huffman as the 2009 Portland team could be pretty good. However with the current state of the parent club many of these guys won't be here for long.
