Hoping to finish the year strongly, the women and men of Stanford Track & Field are heading off to the NCAA Championships, held this year in Des Moines, Iowa from June 11 to June 14. Our resident track & field writer Bob Kinder takes a look at who we should keep our eyes on this week.

The Stanford women finished second and the men fifth at the recent Pac-10 Championships in Tempe, Ariz. Now, they move on to the NCAA West Regionals in Northridge, Calif. this Friday and Saturday. The top five finishers in each individual event, and the top three teams in each relay advance to the NCAA Finals in Des Moines, Iowa, June 11 to June 14. Bob Kinder looks at who might make that cut.

For Track & Field fans, Christmas comes every four years with the Olympics. We close our eyes to politics, to doping, and do our dope... hmm, that word again... our dope sheets on who will make the various National teams and who will win a prized Metal in 2008.

The 2007 outdoor track & field season was one to remember for Stanford, both the men and the women. Both finished 10th at the NCAA Championships, with a lengthy list of memorable athletes and performances throughout the year. With the track & field season wrapped, we take a moment to review the athletes and the numerous rewrites of the school record book by Cardinal men and women this year.

On the final day of competition at Hornet Stadium in these 2007 NCAA Track & Field Championships, both the Stanford men and women finished 10th in an upset. The surge on Saturday was led by a silver so close to gold and a pair of bronze finishes.

Friday at the 2007 NCAA Track & Field Championships was a bright sunny day, not only for the fans but also for Stanford. The Cardinal had three athletes pick up All-American honors with top finishes, including second place by Michael Robertson in the discus. He was joined by Teresa McWalters (5000m) and Graeme Hoste (pole vault). Also, Erica McLain made a statement in the triple jump prelims.

Junior Erica McLain is yet to start the qualifying in her best event, the triple jump, but she already has grabbed a medal at this week's NCAA Track & Field Championships. McLain on Thursday surprised with a third-place finish in the long jump, Stanford's first medal this week. The Cardinal also qualified a slew of runners for the finals in the 1500m, while Josh Hustedt's decathlon was cut short.
